Would any of us, say four or five weeks ago, have been totally shocked if the Texans had selected Bortles #1?

 

And now the Jaguars have him. I think it's pretty remarkable and we should all be praising the pick.

 

Praising because it's a no-brainer? No. Because it's a sure thing? No.

 

Praising because after years of saying we need our guy, we have a GM who went out and did it. And perhaps put his tenure on the line (I don't think that's being overly dramatic.) This seems much different, and better, to me, than the Smith selection of Gabbert.

 

The NFL is, after all, entertainment - and it's going to be extremely fun to see how all this develops and plays out. And who knows, it may actually work!
