Right now, there's first round talent available in the second.

 

There's going to be second round talent well into the third round.  The talent in this draft is so stacked the numbers will push talent down.  All five of their picks tonight could be all first and second round caliber without having to move an inch.

 

You only move up, if the opposite is true (talent is drying up.)

 

That's not the case.

 

The benefit of adding young talent, is that yes unfortunately you have to let go veterans for cap reasons.  When you do, you want the best talent behind them ready to step into that starting role.

I fully understand that. But SF has the luxury to being able to move up to get somebody they really want and still have more picks today than anybody else. Without looking at their roster too in depth, they have a need for a CB, but there isn't anybody worthy of that with our pick. They maybe could use somebody on the front seven with their linebackers making a crap load of money and may have to cut one of them in the coming years, Smith being 34 and the other Smith being a looney. One of the ND lineman make sense and may not make it to 24 this round. Who knows what's on their board, but Im betting they make a move today.


I was just trying to see from a Jags perspective if people would be willing to move down 17 spots in the second to add an extra late round 3rd. Doubt it happens, but it's fun to speculate.
