The Jags lack talent.  Plain and simple.  There is no "tanking" going on - we just plain suck. 

 

"Could" the Jags have gotten a little better this past offseason?  Sure.  They could have overpaid for some free agents, maybe kept players like Cox, Knighton, Smith.  But ultimately, the Jags finally decided they needed a clean slate.  They cleaned up some salary cap issues and next offseason they'll get rid of the other dead weight on the roster - Lewis, Mincey, Poz.  Players getting paid huge sums for mediocre performance. 

 

If you think of it in those terms, the Monroe trade makes sense.  You get an extra 4th and 5th, and save $7-10 M in salary cap space so you can probably get both an upgrade at C and RT for what you would have paid Monroe.
