The issue is that Sam didn't say "football will be my number one priority, but I also went to promote my cause". He said that he wants this JUST to be about football and doesn't want anybody to judge him (whether good or bad) on the merits of his sexual orientation. That completely contradicts the fact that he wanted to do a reality show because of his sexual orientation. Either you want to promote your cause or you don't. You can't say one thing and then do the other. That is called being a hypocrite.

If you want people to judge you as a football player and not because of your sexual orientation, you don't lick cake off of your significant other's face during your Live broadcasted draft celebration.
