Michael Sam To Do A Reality Show On Oprah's Network
|
The main points that need to be taken away from this whole Sam situation is.
Micheal Sam has a right to allow cameras to film him during the draft selection process and kiss his boyfriend when selected. He also has a right to agree to the allow Oprah and her network film him during his attempt to make a NFL team. No matter how "wrong" we think it is, he also has the right to take any endorsement deals that comes him under whatever pretense they are given. If he chooses to bring his boyfriend to team functions where spouses/wives are allowed ,he has that right as well. If a reporter keeps sticking a mic in front of him, he has a right to say whatever he wants to say. If he wants to say something in regards to representing the GLBT community, or playing football, or even both he has that right. He can also choose to not say anything as well. With that said on the other side. People have a right to oppose and voice their opinions to certain lifestyles that they are not comfortable with. Parents have the right to raise their children how they see fit. If they do not want their children exposed to certain lifestyles that they feel will cause confusion, they have that right to raise their child, or children to their beliefs. People have a right to say they will not support a belief or lifestyle that they are against, nor should they be forced to accept it.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.
