My expectation was for Johnny Manziel to drop to pick # 16,  unless there was a trade.  With Jerry Jones then taking him.   I didn't think Jones would resist taking Manziel,  knowing how much Jones likes limelight players.   That much more with the state of Texas connection and Tony Romo's back situation.  In this case,  Jones used good judgment.

 

For moving up 9 spots, you have to be pretty lucky to only give up a fourth round pick.

 

That is exactly what Mike Mayock was expecting in his final mock. After the draft, Jones said Manziel was #1 on his board because the Steelers picked OLB Ryan Shazier one pick earlier and they did talk about it before deciding to select somebody I had never heard of (Zack Martin).

 

Back to our pick, I would have been mad if we had accepted Atlanta's offer because the other guys people mocked us to get - Sammy Watkins and Khalil Mack - were the two players picked right after Bortles. We would have been forced to pick the wrong guy if we had traded down.
