Manning is not an equal comparison. Manning was not a "raw" QB entering the NFL. Bortles is. 

 

How about the McNabb example...he was drafted 2 overall, but didn't start his first game until week 10 his rookie year.

You apparently learned little from the Gabbert mistake. 

 

And before you start in with the Bortles isn't Gabbert stuff, save it, they are still similar in that both shouldn't have been rushed. Fortunately it seems like Caldwell and Bradley are smarter than the impatient fans here.

Agree with the last paragraph. This bunch is smart enough to learn from the mistakes of the past regime. Better to be safe, and take there time bringing their guy along than to rush it and create problems. Bortles needs time to develop. Let it happen. There isn't some pending sense of urgency driving them to get him on the field.
