While I agree with you about the Aikman timing, its still Gus' second year, and 1990 was Jimmy's 2nd year. I think the comparison rides more about Jimmy's Cowboys/ Gus' Jaguars than Aikman/ Bortles....but I also won't discount that the QB is still a very intregal pice of the puzzle. 

I completely agree that Gus having been here a year will help aid in the development of the team on any number of levels.  But if you believe the ascent of a team is tied to the ascent of that team's QB, Bortles' development can't be ignored.

 

I also agree with you about the number of really good players this draft will produce.  I think that Bortles, Lee, Robinson, Colvin, and Telvin Smith will all be at or near Pro Bowl caliber at some point during their careers (Colvin if he plays FS). 

 

I hope Joeckel flourishes at LT, and I think if you allowed him to play almost exclusively in the box, Cyprien can be on that level too.

 

By the way, I watched a couple of those ESPN draft academy shows that featured Bortles and Lee.  I came away impressed with both.  Bortles appeared well grounded and very competitive, while I think Lee has the mindset to be a big game player.
