QB Competition: Blowing Smoke
|
Quote:Thats more optimistic than I see it playing out, but I just hope that even if we're a 5 win team that they still stick to the script and not insert Bortles into the starting lineup until he's ready. Don't cave into the neanderthals. It can be surprising how far a team can go playing defense, great special teams, winning turnover differential and shorting the game with a running offense. You're not going to be a serious contender, but it seems every year some unexpected team swings 6-8 wins from year to year doing it. 2013 it was the Chiefs. 2012 the Vikings. Particularly if you play in a weak division with a favorable schedule with about 6-7 opponents who will beat themselves with stupid mistakes. I remember Bill Parcells going 10-6 his first year in Dallas with Quincy Carter as his QB and Troy Hambrick as his RB using that formula. I'm not saying the Jags will be that team, but I recognize that's what they're shooting for. |
