I never really considered Tyler much of an actual "singer" but more of a vocal stylist. Lets face it, there wasn't ever much "singing" going on with Tylers vocals, but it worked for what they (the band) were doing. 

 

In my VERY early career what I did had a lot to do with sound, tone, pitch, etc.  I saw many bands/singers live and even ran the board for some of them.  Some acts sounded like you were listening to the album, and some were horrible.

 

An example that I'll give, I saw ZZ Top play in a bar around 1987 or so.  In fact, at the time I was on the sound crew and ran the board.  They sounded freakin' awesome and put on a great show.  I've seen them live recently, and though the sound isn't as good as it was back then, they still put on a fantastic show.
