The NFL is too fleeting in todays era to go 5 years for extensions. Remember how fast the Del Rio thing fell apart and we were handcuffed for extra years in having to retain him??

 

I'd rather not follow in identical footsteps to that.

 

You supported the Del Rio extension, and the only reason we were handcuffed is because Wayne didn't want to pay 2 coaches.  It's clear that Khan doesn't have the same aversion. 

 

If Gus proves to be the coach most hope he has the ability to become, and the team responds accordingly, I want the team to lock him up for as long as they possibly can so we don't have to worry about a team with deeper pockets trying to cherry pick him at some point.
