Jonathan Martin on LeBron James
|
Quote:I can understand if the cramp happened at the beginning of the game or maybe right before half-time where it would have given the trainers enough time to get him hydrated with IVs stuff. But it happened in the middle of the 4th quarter...I'm not sure what they can do for him then. From my limited time as an athlete it is very painful. You are very conscious of your eating and dietary habits as well as workout regimen. Small tweaks can greatly improve or diminish performance. In the case of lebron he was derailed because he just lost to much water and electrolytes. He is aware of how much to put in his body and the type of climate he will play in. However if the climate changes and changes very rapid then changes can occur very quickly without much he can do. The heat basically drained to much water from his body. Muscles hold water and Lebron is a very muscle dense individual. He lost more water than he was prepared for and there you have your result. It was very smart on behalf of the spurs to kill the AC because the conditioning for those elements are much different. Hydration for the day always takes place the day before. So gulping down water and Gatorade at that moment in time would have been useless |
