Is Shorts was in the same position, do you think the team would take a similar stance? My belief is no because talent wise, Blackmon is better, which goes to the point that you want to eliminate any perception of creating favoritism. 

 

How does cutting one of the best players on your roster who is dealing with a medical issue going to send a message to the team about fostering a winning culture?  If he does come back, the team is better for it.  He's not an attitude problem.  When he's with the team, he's not an issue.  He has an addiction.  I think if you cut him you're sending the exact opposite message to the team. 

 

Of course there's favoritism.  Do you think this would possibly be a shock for guys who are holding on to a roster spot because of their abilities on special teams?
