What would you give up for Eric Berry

Also, I wouldn't be willing to go any higher than a fourth-round pick for Berry. It's not that I don't like him as a player, because I do. It's that I don't want any part of that contract. If he negotiates an extension that brings those dollar figures back towards reality, I'd be interested as high as a second-round pick. Logic being that I think the Jags would be looking at a safety in the first two rounds next year anyway, so it's worth giving up the two to fill the hole now vs. hoping the right guy is there when you're on the clock in 2015.

But, yeah, as long as that psycho contract is in place, forget it. Even if Berry were amenable to negotiating an extension that brings that cap number down, his agent would fight tooth and nail to block it so as to avoid having other agents shove it in the face of anyone he's recruiting. He's a guy who's playing well enough that you'll either have to break the bank to keep him out of free agency, franchise tag him for two years (which will not be cheap given how highly-paid he is now) or let him into FA and hope that the Redskins the Cowboys the Bucs some other bunch of idiots doesn't give him a monstrous contract. Getting two years out of a guy that you cough a fourth up for? Fine. Two years out of a guy that you gave up a two, a two and a three, or even a one to get your hands on? Yousa sayin' GM's insa trouble?

I tend to agree with this.  I'm not sure there's a trade scenario this team would consider based simply on his contract numbers, and there's zero incentive for him to re-work that contract especially if the intent is to lower the cap hit.

Knowing how Caldwell covets his draft picks, I'm seriously doubting he'd give up multiple picks including a 2nd rounder.  Just doesn't seem like something he'd be involved with.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
