The main problem of Jar Jar was the fact he was clearly inserted for two specific and related reasons; 1: To appeal to kids and 2: To sell toys. Even his speech patterns were engineered for this, George Lucas was clearly hoping it would become a playground thing to speak like Jar Jar.
