This whole "deserves to go to a contender" thing always confuses me.

 

Why does he deserve anything other than being paid for his services? Did he donate last year's salary to the Sisters of the Poor so he could be traded to the Patriots?

 

He's a professional athlete. He deserves to be paid, and he most certainly is very well paid, and in turn the team and fans deserve his best effort.

 

Do nice guys deserve more than less known guys?
