On one hand you have a situation where the Raiders say Maurice Jones-Drew will be the backup running back and might get the opportunity to split the carries during regular season.  They want to know if he can overcome his injury and age to return to his ProBowl form from a couple years ago and be the leading rusher or close to it.   Maurice has already proven to the league that he is an excellent running back (plus receiver, blocker, special teams player, etc), the only question is how much is left in his tank.

 

When it comes to Toby Gerhart the Jaguars have only said that he will be the work horse thus giving him many opportunities to surpass MoJo this year (at least) in rushing yards should he live up to the hype.  He has fresh legs unlike Mojo, but doesnt have the fame nor has he proven himself to be a Star week to week, year to year like Mojo has. 


I feel it will be a closely watched race if nothing else than by Jaguar fans interested to see Mojo still be successful even if not on our team (as long as we arent playing against the Raiders)!  That being said to even compare Toby to Mojo is a good sign of the confidence in the coaches, the media & fans in his ability to produce Mojo type numbers this year (not last years injury year for mojo).
