The NFL is a pass first league now with all the rules geared toward protecting the offense.
The pass opens up the run, not the other way around. As always some team will lead the league in rushing, but unless it's AP, it is usually a pretty good 1 2 running punch. If your team is a run first football team, that just means that your QB is an average to below average starting QB who the coaches don't trust to throw the ball, which is why they want to run the ball more then throw it.
