What you are describing is what's called mental addiction, doing things based on liking the way they make you feel. Sex addiction, gambling addiction, some eating disorders all fall under this type of addiction.

 

It is not an addiction in a physical sense where you have to do it whether you want to or not because you will suffer withdraw symptoms, but it is still real.

 

Anything someone will continually do even when faced with negative consequences is considered an addiction whether it be mental or physical.
