Raiders to relocate to San Antonio TX?

Quote:D6 I respect you but your just regurgitating crap that others spew. The 37th media market has some truth but it's fluky math. San Antonio has a larger viewership than Oakland when you compare city to city. Where its skewed is when you add San Francisco to the mix and its misleading to call Oakland the 6th largest media market and San Antonio the 37th. To be fair San Antonio would include South Texas from Austin down. That is a crap load of viewership. There are actual statistical proof that the San Antonio Market alone is the second largest market for the Cowboys. Thats why Jerry Jones gets so defensive about the topic.

San Antonio does not have a ton of corporate backing but it is becoming a hot bed. Most corporate supporters have the Spurs full attention but when you add an NFL team to the mix, guess who there going to spend the dollars on? One more thing. The Eagle Ford Shale made a ton of Millionaires in South Texas. There are plenty of people to support a team for 10 games. No doubt about it.

ThunderCat,  one thing I want to express before replying to some of the comments you provided is if the NFL decides to expand to  San Antonio or a franchise that in essence needs to re-locate decides to move to San Antonio,   I would be happy with the outcome.   I much rather San Antonio get an NFL franchise than an NFL Franchise being placed outside the U.S. or Canada.     I also rather see San Antonio get a franchise than Los Angeles getting yet another franchise.

My take on Oakland is while it shares a market with San Francisco,  most people living in the East Bay are Raiders fans.    The Raiders have a very large following there.   Whether that will be enough for the Raiders to get a new stadium in the Bay area that satisfies Mark Davis remains to be seen.   It wouldn't surprise me if the Raiders leave the Bay area again.

In addition to the Cowboys,  which has a massive following in most of Texas,   the Texans also have a sizeable following in Southern Texas.

Getting back to the Cowboys,  they have held their training camp in San Antonio a number of times.    With the long tradition of the Cowboys,   it's going to be difficult to build a new fan base in San Antonio and elsewhere in Texas.    If the Cowboys played a ' road' regular season game in San Antonio against a San Antonio team,   for at least 15 years my guess is the majority of fans at the game would root for the Cowboys.
