If I were another team, the fact that NE wasn't willing to lock Mallet down long term and would rather trade him would be a red flag.
 

You made my point. I don't think he is the long term answer. And I doubt if NE thought he was that they would have drafted Garrapollo. Next offseason, some team will sign him to starter money. He'll be another Kevin Kolb/Matt Flynn type.
