He did the same with Monroe and then traded him. Right now Marcedes is the only viable option at TE who can both catch and block. I agree that he should be gone but i feel that if our TE situation looked like our OT at the beginnig of the year (Joeckel,Monroe with depth behind them) that Caldwell would have moved him already.

 

He hasnt shown any fear of letting players like that walk. I just think in this case he didnt want to leave the shelves completely bare. Next year we will likely address TE in the middle rounds and a mid level FA (Which caldwell has done a good job of so far) and i think Marcedes will be gone. I agree he should be gone though.
