The scientific facts can claim that the darker colors are somehow actually cooler, but I know how I feel when wearing the lighter colors in the heat and they indeed feel "lighter" whether that be psychological or what not. I'm sure the NFL teams still employing the practice must also feel that way. If they felt they were actually getting no advantage the majority of hot weather teams would have abandoned the strategy long ago.  

 

Scientific facts also prove that a red traffic light is actually green if you are traveling fast enough too, so...
