Let me explain to you a little bit about some of my views, if you even care to pay attention at this point.

 

I am a Democrat who believes in small government, but also believes in regulation of the free market.

 

Thank your republican wife for those views.  Republicans don't believe in completely unregulated markets.  They just don't want over-regulation and government intrusion beyond what is necessary. 


 

I am pro gun rights.

 

I know plenty of pro gun rights democrats.  I go shooting with one every other week.  Gun control is a more radical leftist mantra.


 

I am for Gay marriage and equal rights, but firmly believe marriage is defined in the bible between man and woman.

 

If you firmly believe marriage is defined in the Bible between a man and a woman, but you're pro gay marriage, you're a contradiction.  Equal rights are a separate issue.  In both cases, I don't care one way or the other.  It shouldn't be a political issue to begin with.  What someone does in the privacy of their own home means nothing to me. 


 

I support Israel as a right to defend itself as a state, and believe the U.S. should continue to be a key ally.

 

Your party does not.  In fact, they would love nothing more than to cut Israel off completely and let them sink or swim on their own. 


 

I believe EVERYONE, rich, middle class, poor should have access to quality, affordable preventable health care.

 

And what your party has given this country is healthcare that is low quality, expensive, and rationed.  You believe healthcare should be provided by the government?  I believe the government doesn't need to be in the healthcare business except in extreme cases as a safety net.  Everyone in this country already had access to healthcare regardless of whether they had insurance or not.  The system was never as broken as your party tried to portray it, and what they've done to "fix" it has only made it worse. 


 

I support tax cuts for Americans making at or below poverty level income.

 

You do realize that Americans making at or below poverty level don't pay income taxes, right?  Ever heard of the Earned Income Tax Credit?


 

I believe Government should have a reduced role in welfare, but still maintain subsides for those who need it in emergencies circumstances. 

 

If government has a reduced role in welfare, it would devastate the base of the democrat party.  Perpetuating and expanding government dependency is one of the main pillars of the party platform whether you agree or not.  There's a reason they're trying to expand entitlement programs the way they are.  They see that as expanding their political influence. 


 

Reinvest in Social Security.

 

I support tax breaks for small businesses.

 

You can "label" me however you choose, at this point I will say this AGAIN, I know your line of thinking, and sadly there are MILLIONS others, both Democratic and Republican who share the same behaviors and tendencies you posses which I feel hold this country back sometimes from progress. 

 

You really have no idea what my line of thinking is.  You keep saying this, but based on what you've put out there already, you haven't a clue.  I commend you for having an open mind on certain issues that your party takes an extreme stance on.   


 

When I was younger, I must admit I held the same IGNORANT PREJUDICE against Republicans who I thought we all racists, rich, etc, come to find out the most amazing person who is a Republican is my wife. We have our disagreements, but what got me more embracive to the Republican Party was when she started to explain their ideology basically separating fact from fiction, and ironically, most of our viewpoints line up the same, but she and others HATE the radicals who just love to stereotype the left with one broad stroke like you and so many other do. 

 

I'm sure your wife and I would get along just fine politically.  You call me a radical, but once again, you know nothing about my overall political philosophy.  You tell me I stereotyped you, but for some reason, you fail to recognize you're doing the exact same thing here, and in other threads where we don't necessarily agree.  You accuse me of being a hypocrite, but if that's the case, so are you based on your own predisposed notions. 


 

I sincerely pray that your sentiments towards people who have a different political affiliation from you are just some off the cuff feelings and dont mask the person who you truly are FBT. 

 

I have friends and family who are democrats, and I don't hold it against them. 

 

Nobody is in complete agreement with their party platform unless they are the person writing it.  I don't agree with everything the republicans do, although I am an unashamed conservative politically.  You've attempted to stereotype me in this thread by implying that you knew what my thinking was about the content that was removed in another thread related to a black guy being taken into custody for doing nothing.  Again, you have no idea what I actually thought.  You just made an assumption based on your own bias. 

 

I'm not denying I've stereotyped you as the typical lib democrat, and perhaps that struck a nerve with you so you decided to return the favor.  That's all fine and good.  You don't know me.  I don't know you.  But, I do know that what you assumed about my thoughts on that subject couldn't be further from the truth.  You've implied here and in the Ferguson thread that I'm a racist or a bigot based on your comments.  I find that completely offensive, but I could make the same accusations about you since you clearly stereotyped me based on nothing more than your assumptions. 

 

FYI, 0bama calls himself a progressive.  So does Hillary.  They're both liberals by any standard.  The word liberal has become a dirty word for the left, so they've assumed the progressive tag as a way of distancing themselves from the true label.  If your viewpoints are as you claim they are above, you're not a progressive.  You're a moderate.  Big difference.
