Quote:I only got to watch a little of the start then I was off to the range to hit a bucket and then practiced my chips and putting.  Swinging a driver has always been my biggest frustration.  I can't drive it straight with any consistency, but I'm pretty good with my long irons.

I got away from golf for quite a few years and only recently picked it back up.  I agree, it's a great game.  One that can cause a lot of frustration some days, but I always enjoy myself.  I have a new set of irons being shipped in and I can't wait to get my hands on them.  I regripped my old irons but they're...old.

Kaymer is golfing like a machine.  Barring a mental meltdown it's his to lose.

I'm in the same situation in that I took about 10 years off and just a few months ago took it up again.   I joined Bent Creek.  They have a $50 a month deal where you can get all the range balls you want.   They also have a very nice practice putting green, a separate chipping green, and a practice bunker.

I used to shoot in the mid to low 80s (from the white tees).  Right now, I'm in the low 90s, but my goal is to break 80 in the next 12 months.   I never used to work on my short game at all, but now, I'm realizing, in a typical round of golf, if you include putting, about 60% of your shots are from 60 yards or less.

The great thing about golf is that even if you are small, weak, and uncoordinated like me (I'm about 5-8, 155), there is a scientific way to swing a golf club, and if you are analytical, and really try to figure out how to swing the club, and practice it, you can play pretty well.   It's 90% mental.
