Don't panic if Bortles looks bad against the Lions

Quote:This...but I don't necessarily want to see him "struggle" as in have a bad game...though it would be good to see how he bounces back, especially if it's just preseason.

I don't think he's been blitzed very much in the first two preseason games, but I believe he'll be blitzed heavily, especially in the first five games.

I want to see how he handles a heavier dose of blitzing.

Ideally, he'd beat the blitzes enough to dissuade teams from from blitzing later on.

If the Lions pre-season game at Oakland last week is any indicator,  Blake Bortles will be seeing LB blitzes/ dogs between the Guards early and often.  The Lions had problems generating a pass rush with a 4 man front but when LB's Stephen Tulloch and DeAndre Levy came up the middle,  especially on the same play,  Matt Schaub took a beating.  I'm sure Gus Bradley and his Offensive Staff have spent considerable time this week preparing for a heavy doze of blitzes.   Knowing the Ravens coaching background of Lions new Defensive Coordinator Teryl Austin,   the blitzes can come in many different forms.   This will be a good test for both teams.
