Who is Andrew Luck?
|
Quote:Sadly the non Jags fans are the only ones on this thread that are giving Andrew Luck his due. To be fair, before this thread went crazy comparing playoff stats and all these different QBs etc there were plenty of Jags fan's posts giving Luck credit (paraphrased below), #2 (me) - He's really good #13 (ObjectiveJag) - Luck is better than Rodgers #16 - (Dew the Mathis) - He's come close to living up to the hype of being one of the best of the decade #17 - (Roycee) - He's above average, might be ready to take a big jump. I think the problem with his thread is that everyone is talking past one another. Some of the people who are questioning Luck were probably expecting him to be nearly unstoppable the way Manning is/was for a over a decade. The kind of QB you need to force turnovers and over perform against to beat. Up to this point, Luck hasn't been, which isn't to suggest he can't reach that level, but is a relief to those posters. He has led his team to some great seasons, but people still see him as beatable (if you are fielding a halfway decent team, which the Jags have not), thus, the idea that he hasn't lived up to the hype. Additionally, Luck's numbers against the Jags haven't been exactly eye popping. In 4 games he is averaging 270 yds a game and has 5 TD passes and 3 INTs. The most important stat, of course, is wins, which Luck is 3-1 against the Jags. I think people see these stats and a career average of 255 /yds a game and 23 TDs a year and they are relieved. His numbers make it appear that, assuming he doesn't make a huge jump, he will be beatable when the Jags have a stronger team (in fairness, we have stunk). When people say he hasn't lived up to the hype, they are comparing these numbers with the idea that Luck would already be closer to Manning and Brees style numbers. Also, you do have to recognize that Colts fans are going to be ragged on a little on another team's message board. That is part of the fun! If Colts fans are looking for reassurance, this isn't the place. :teehee:
