I used to shoot in the mid to low 80s (from the white tees). Right now, I'm in the low 90s, but my goal is to break 80 in the next 12 months. I never used to work on my short game at all, but now, I'm realizing, in a typical round of golf, if you include putting, about 60% of your shots are from 60 yards or less.


The great thing about golf is that even if you are small, weak, and uncoordinated like me (I'm about 5-8, 155), there is a scientific way to swing a golf club, and if you are analytical, and really try to figure out how to swing the club, and practice it, you can play pretty well. It's 90% mental.

The irony of it being a mental game is that you don't want to think too much when addressing the ball.


I've had to stop playing for the last few weeks. The iron set I alluded to waiting for a few posts (months) back got stolen along with all my other clubs. Including a brand new Odyssey putter that I got to use for only one round. I would gladly replace that club if I could bury it in the skull of the [BLEEP] hole that stole them.
