Winston isn't just an NFL arm. He's an elite NFL arm. The guy is a lot like Kaepernick in that he also pitches and throws a fastball in the mid to upper 90s.

 

I've followed the news on him closely and to me the off-field stuff isn't as much of a concern. He's gotten spoiled by playing behind a dominant line and sometimes holds the ball too long. However his QB rating actually went UP against the blitz and I've seen him make the quick decision when the pressure does come. His much analyzed windup is more wasted motion than wasted time. He still gets the ball out at least as quickly as most NFL QBs because of whatever magic juju in his elbow that allows him to throw fastballs in the 90s.

 

He's not going to be Andrew Luck where every team would pick him #1 or trade that pick for a huge windfall, but he'll be in that next tier. I think he'll be more highly rated than Bortles and while some team might not pick him #1 overall, many teams will have him at #1 on their board. If Bortles stayed another year, I probably would have wanted Winston.

 

In the NFL, I think he'll be very good. A lot of the successful young quarterbacks have been overrated as shown by their inability to dethrone Manning/Brady or sustain breakout years. In five years I think the best QBs in the NFL will be Rodgers, Luck, Bortles, Wilson, Stafford, and Winston. I also still have high hopes for Bridgewater, but am not as sure on him as I am on these others.
