I don't subscribe so I'm not able to ensure this was the same article Hicken was referencing this morning, but if it is... Gus ranks as the 19th best coach.

 

I think that's pretty fair based on the record, and speaks well of a one year coach.  Pretty respectable given an extremely short track record with a team that's still a work in progress.

 

So, I'd say the USA Today writer lives in some alternate universe.
That's actually really really impressive considering he's a brand new head coach and went 4-12 last season.
