Confidence is a huge part of being talented. What good is a player if the game is on the line and they choke from nerves? Not saying Shorts is one of those guys because he has made clutch plays for us but I believe Hurns may hold that quality from the little we've seen.

 

I also don't recall Hurns breaking tackles but I believe it's fair to call him a physical receiver is it not? I think he's more suited in the strength department to take a drag route or hitch and break it for a big gain. I think Gus and the coaching staff believe that as well which is why he's our WR3 at the moment.

 

So, it stands to reason that there are varying opinions on who is the more talented receiver between Shorts and Hurns.  But, the prevailing mindset is that Hurns has potential, but Shorts is still the better receiver at this point, and there's really nothing to indicate that this is going to change. The only true knock on Shorts is his health.  Aside from that, he's a talented enough receiver to generate more than 1700 yards receiving and put up 10 touchdowns over the past 2 seasons taking passes from Gabbert and Henne.  I'd say he's done more than enough to prove he's a talented player in the NFL based on the stats he's put up with that kind of QB talent throwing his way. 

 

Some posters here just blurt out what suits their agenda.  They don't bother to formulate an opinion that's based on anything other than their opinion itself, and that's tainted by what they are fixated on.  So, a person who hates Shorts is going to focus all of her energy on trying to prove the point that she's right about her hatred for a certain player, even if it means throwing out some ridiculous nonsense that's completely unproven. 

 

Kudos to the two of you for laying out your views on Hurns vs. Shorts, and for confirming that while Hurns certainly has a good deal of potential to be a good player for this team, he's not necessarily a better receiver than the established veteran we have on the roster currently.
