I don't disagree that Shorts is the more talented receiver at the moment. I do believe Hurns has a significant chance to be just as good if he can keep up with the pace of the game at the next level and stay healthy.

 

 

What I'm saying is he would have to do something entirely different in the regular season to be considered on Shorts' level in my mind.  Hurns did nothing more than catch the passes thrown to him.  He didn't do anything that made you say, "wow".  He needs to do more than just "keep it up".

 

If you go off of what he did at Miami... it's pretty much the same thing we've seen so far.  He runs good routes and catches the ball.  Other than that he was a good deep threat... but he never showed that acrobatic ability to go up and get the ball.  Every pass I see him catch is with his body.  He doesn't go up and get it.  In the NFL, that is a must.  You wont be able to sneak behind broken coverages like he did many times at Miami.

 

Shorts is more talented from an pure athleticism point of view.  It has nothing to do with production.  Hurns isnt going to suddenly become more athletic.
