No there is no limit but they count against the cap. Back in the day before the salary cap, teams used to stash an unlimited amount of guys on IR because they were able to pay them. Teams like Dallas did this so they constantly were able to signed hurt guys, let them rehab and reap the benefits a year or two later. Now due to the cap, it kind of polices itself because a team like the saint who at very close of the max can not afford to pay 10 guys a full season salary on IR. It does benefit teams like the Jags who are well under the cap though because we can afford to pay players like Colvin and Doss their full salary.

Hopefully Caldwell takes full advantage of these loop holes to get our team back on track. It seems he is already using some of these methods now.
