My thoughts on Ryan Mallett (and Tom Savage for that matter), for the record, have nothing to do with him being a Texan.  I didn't think he'd turn out to be much on the Patriots, and wouldn't think he'd turn out to be much even if the Jags signed him.   In fact, I think the Texans should have waited a round or two and drafted Mettenberger instead of Savage.  I think the Titans got a really good deal there. 


Of course we don't know what Bortles will become.  He hasn't played a Down that counts yet.  But we don't know what next years crop will do either.  They haven't even played their last year of college yet.  Personally I have high hopes for Bortles given what he's shown so far.  

 

Good quarterbacks come out most years. The texans will still have to actually identify them, though, and given their seeming miss on Bortles and bad evaluation of Schaub (paying that guy was complete idiocy. Anyone with any ability to evaluate could see his success was coming from the pieces around him, not from him) I'm not sure they can do it.

 

Of course just getting a "good" QB really isn't enough, especially if the Jaguars continue to build their team as well as they seem to be.

 

I foresee a lot of heartbreaking losses against the Jagaurs for the texans in the future as they play good tough games but always lose at the end because we have the better QB.
