To Everyone Who Said That We Should Trade Poz And Blackmon...

#30

Quote:you may be one of the only people ive heard say allen is one their favorite and im not slamming you in any way over that.... i actually think its quite an original choice.... but i do think its a little naive to think we could get a 1st round for really any player on our roster... even blackmon would probably only pull a 2nd or 3rd rounder at this point.... heck monroe was one of our best players and we only got a couple of Saturday picks for him.
Think there's some confusion with what I said, i think it would take a first or second round pick to upgrade the mlb position with a younger player.

I don't think he would fetch a first but I don't see the point of trading him for less than a 3rd unless you have a ready made replacement (as we did with joeckel in the monroe trade) and laroy reynolds doesn't seem to be beating out hayes so i doubt he can beat out poz.

Especially considering the state of our defense which is young and new ,having a fixture in the middle of the park commanding the d (especially with lowery injured and likely to be cut) and rookies and new faces galore in the secondary, poz being there with his experience and reliability can only help their integration so I don't see the use in trading him unless we are getting an offer we can't refuse, which to me is a third up.

Added though I agree he is overpayed he is one of the lone positions of current strength par marks in our defense. There is lots of potential but very little actual proven talent (i am going off marks's latest perfomances which have been top)

If we have cap issues a different story but we are bathing in cap space so holding onto him until we have upgraded the front 4 and the secondary are settled and fully integrated seems like a good idea to me.

As for allen, i like the reliable players, the guy that does his job day in day out.  You get players like shorts or blackmon who will have great days or great plays, then you wont hear about them for a few weeks or make a key drop on third or in the redzone which he should have taken in. Allen is very good in coverage and does well against the run, you never really hear about him blowing coverage or missing his lane and come to think of it, teams rarely get big gains round the right edge with him and alualu, He goes out there, fits really well into this defense and does his job, i like that.
