I want to start by saying that I'm just a fan and I don't know all the details the coaching staff and front office do.

 

That said, the only reason that would be acceptable in my mind to why we are not starting Bortles is if the coaching staff has determined that it would hurt his development in the grand scheme of things. 

 

This season is not a playoff season, only the delusional can't see that.  Accepting that fact, the goal of this season is to improve and build for the future. 

 

The question should be whether starting Bortles now will negatively or positively impact his development for the future.

 

I do hope that the Gabbert dumpster fire over the last 3 years hasn't gotten us too scared about young QB's....
