The comments debbie-downer is likely referring to were about him being efficient and "we feel good about him."  The kind of stuff that coaches say in order to not publicly bash their players until they've been replaced on the depth chart.  So that's not happening just yet. 
 

5 out of 16 drives with more than 30 yards for the entire game is not efficient. It is dismal. It means the offense didn't move. 

 

If I get an B for the 1st 9.5 weeks in school and an F in the next 9.5 weeks, I don't get a great grade. I get a C-/D grade.
