The Jags want Henne to be more explosive minded per the FTU

Quote:It was a play from Sunday that exemplifies how Henne does not have the instinct to do this. It was in the third quarter if I remember and a third down. They blitzed Henne and he rolled out of the pocket. When we rolled to the right, the defensive linemen got jammed up by our line so now Henne was basically by himself and had ample enough time to reset his eyes and make a strike or at least run to for some type of gain. Instead he throws the ball away. These are they plays if feel a previous poster talks about they the same MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN.

It seems they are trying to coach him up to think like a play maker instead of a manager. It is just not his game to do so. I support him as long as he is the qb and will hope for the best but I take true solace in knowing the real deal is waiting to be called up.
I'm with 'ya on this. I'm not against Henne by any means, but... well, he is what he is. Let me put it this way....

Your in a car race, so you need a fast car that handles good to be competitive.... and you've finally gotten one! Unfortunately, your best car isn't being allowed in the race at this time for fear that other cars will bash into it and damage it before it ever has a chance to win a race. Therefore, you run the older, slower and lower performance car that you have. You know it can't win a big race, but it's been around a good while and can finish; and besides, it's all you have until the new car is allowed to race....

That's kinda' how I see us with Henne and Bortles for now. Henne isn't a game changer; he's a game manager. I don't mean that in a mean spirited way either. Teams need quarterbacks who are 'game managers'. It's just that usually, they are the back-up quarterbacks, not the starter. Since that's not the case in J'ville, I have to think that the coaches have a good reason to be doing this. I wrote a rather blunt, 'screaming' post just before the play offs started stating (in so many words...) 'I demand a team that can win'. Yup... guilty. So at this point, while I still want a winning team, I'm just going to have to 'suck it up' and wait until we really do have the players in the key positions (like the offensive line, for example...) that can win the battles in the trenches where games are really won or lost. Funny, linesmen don't get much 'glory', yet they are the ones who really win... or lose, games.

I y'ams who I y'ams and thats all I y'ams...
