I have no doubt Mack would have helped this team, but I'm not sure he was worth potentially ruining the salary structure of the team to do it.

 

I would let more cap savvy persons kick that around in detail, but that's my thoughts on that.

 

Those contracts won't be up for years still, and the team doesn't have a lot of guys going forward who are making big money now that will be around in a few years.

 

Besides, if you decide you can't afford Mack later you just cut him 3 years down the road.

 

My point is, though, I would have made him the richest center by a good margin or made sure the browns stroked a really big check to keep him.
