A very common saying is people put to much credit to a QB when a team wins and to much blame on a QB when a team loses.  We have been losing bad and this saying has been proven out beyond any shadow of a doubt.

 

He's average for a QB of the 80s or 90s. When 3000 yards and a passer rating in the mid 70s was considered acceptable.

 

Of course back then he'd be even worse because he wouldn't have a league that emphasizes passing trying to prop up every QB's stats.

 

For the modern NFL goes he's not average, he's bottom of the league as starting QBs go.
