i blame the scheme and the fact that everyone knows exactly what we are going to do

when we got pass rush with a 4 man rush ie against phili it works because it's a prevent scheme, the idea is to get the qb to throw quickly to the check down in front of you, come up and stop them

when you don't the rest of the time it doesn't especially when the offense knows your in cover 3 and that there will be pockets in behind the linebackers and on the corner routes

hence why we get screwed by tight end seam routes as the tight end has time to get in behind the lb sit down and wait for the ball. add if you cant even come up and make the tackle on a prevent scheme your going to be screwed

genuinely not sure what has happened there... perhaps exhaustion or trying to do to much  knowing you have to provide the spark for the offense so going for the strip rather than just wrapping up... overpersuing when gap disciple is needed?

 

i am also a little worried about this otto position(which i may be misunderstanding but as far as i see it) that we are running as i think it leaves us vulnerable to the cut back on run plays with a lot of rbs escaping out the back door. I believe the problem is instead of running the 4-3 we normally ran we now really run practically a 5-2 which is all very well if they run to the strong side but if they cut it back it leaves you a problem as it leaves poz clemons and hayes/ smith having to seal  4 gaps between them.

 

With the richardson run poz had two gaps to seal with no help especially as the play action was keeping our safeties honest so cyp couldn't come down in support. he commited to one gap and richardson cut back into the other

 

i genuinely thing all our problems could be solved with more variety on defense

i worry our youth in the secondary and our lack of an earl thomas style free safety is keeping our playbook too simple and making our defense repetitive and predicatable, which experienced qbs will simply pick apart
