I used to sit in section 434. It's a really good, rowdy section. But of course out of all the people in the section there were 3 individuals who refused to sit down through the entire game and they just so happened to sit right in front of me. Now this was back before we had the new video boards that Im pretty sure people on the other side of the St. Johns river can see more clearly than if they were sitting in front of their TV in their living room. No, we still had the old crappy video boards that were barely more than an afterthought. So when they stood up, my view was completely blocked of the game. The people in the row behind me could still see the game (presumably) so my only two options were to A. Stand up and block THEIR view of the game so I could see or B. Try to watch the video boards to see what was happening. We had asked them to sit down and they would.. for about a play or two. Then they were back up on a 1st and 20 play that there really was no need to be standing to see. I'm not the type to get on my phone and text a complaint to the security team at the stadium. I mean, we're all trying to have fun and we were all season ticket holders who would have to see each other at every home game that year. So I completely understand what the Jags are doing. There's nothing wrong with standing up on 3rd downs for the defense, or on big plays where we score a TD or a long completion, or even when we get a sack or INT... that's to be expected. Everyone stands up for those moments. But to stand and block the view of the person behind you for a routine play is a bit ridiculous. The new video boards are nice, very nice. But I don't pay $400 a pop for season tickets to go to the stadium and watch the video boards because I can't see the field due to the boneheads in front of me feeling the need to stand for the entire game. The Jags aren't trying to sap the fun out or the experience of being at the game, they're simply trying to ensure that every fan who pays good money to go to the game actually gets the chance to see it. You don't want to stand up for big plays in the game? Fine, but you're going to miss it. That's to be expected.
