... if you scroll near the bottom it lists the states that produce the most NFL talent.  And then the states that produce the most per capita.  Kind of amazing that both Florida and Georgia are not only top 5 in sheer numbers but top 5 in per capita.  You would think the per capita may be made up of outliers of small states that currently have an unusually high numbers of NFL players at this given time.  I remember crunching these numbers myself about 10 years ago and Iowa was randomly ranked pretty high just as Montana is now.  You would expect more of these but doesnt hold true.


Needless to say the top 6 per capita are all SEC states.  People can say all they want about the SEC being the best because it has fans that care.  Because it has money.  This is the real reason.  The high schools just spit out better talent per head.  The average high school football player in the South is better than the average kid elsewhere.  They grow up playing against better talent.  And it carries over to college.  And when you look at any college recruiting class, kids tend to stay local.  

 

This isnt really groundbreaking data but interesting to see how overwhelming it is.
