Thankfully,  no one else was killed or injured during the final part of Rob Birones'  life.

 

After giving the tragic situation thought,  including what was expressed in this thread,   I think there's a pretty good chance that Rob Birones'  behavior the night he was killed was a combination of two factors:

 

1.  The use of a drug such as Ambien.

2.  The likely realization that his NFL career was over.   Like I mentioned earlier in this thread,  Birones had a tryout/ workout with the Lions Tuesday of last week.   Based on the fact that Lions HC Jim Caldwell mentioned on Monday that former Eagles K Alex Henery had the best workout of the 3 kickers that day  (  the Lions signed Alex Henery two days ago ) ,  Birones could easily have seen the writing on the wall during the workout.    This was his first NFL opportunity since the one workout/ tryout he had in the off-season with an NFL team.    He wasn't on an NFL roster this summer.  The playing ability end for an NFL player sometimes comes quickly.     Under these circumstances,  many players have difficulty coping with the reality.  

 

I hope that Rob Birones is remembered for all of the positives in his life compared to the last night of his life.
