Hello, Jags fans. Thought I'd say hey. I think this game may be closer than a lot of you think.
I agree that if the Chargers were at full strength, a blowout would be in the cards. But the Chargers have been
crushed by injuries, and it's to the point it's getting worrisome for us. (I forget which publication -- I think it was SI -- listed us as the #1 most hit by injuries team). Look at the following list, which I borrowed from your "injury" thread:
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">WR Keenan Allen Groin FP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">LB Jerry Attoaochu Hamstring DNP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">CB Brandon Flowers Hip FP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">TE Antonio Gates Hamstring FP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">SS Marcus Gilchrist Shoulder FP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">TE David Johnson Shoulder DNP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">DE Corey Liuget Ankle FP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">RB Ryan Matthews Knee DNP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">OL Rich Ohmberger Back DNP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">LB Manti Te'o Foot DNP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">CB Jason Varrett Hamstring DNP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">LB Reggie Walker Ankle DNP
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Putting aside the (hopefully minor injuries), the list of DNP is a major concern. Especially when added to the players we've sent to IR, and PUP lists.
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">
DEFENSE:
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Jerry Attaochu; Melvin Ingram; Reggie Walker (Two starting OLB's and back up OLB/ILB)
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Manti Te'o (starting ILB)
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Jason Verrett (starting CB)
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Kwame Geathers (starting NT)
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">
OFFENSE
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">David Johnson (TE/FB - best blocking TE)
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Ryan Mathews; Danny Woodhead (Best RB; Best utility player)
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Nick Hardwick; Jeromey Clary; Rich Ohrnberger (Starting center; Starting Guard; Starting G/Backup center)
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">The most depleted corps are the LB's; the O-Line; and the backfield.
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">You know how they say it's not who you play, it's when you play them? Will you are getting the Chargers at the perfect time. I think we'll still take it, based on Rivers/Gates/Green/Floyd/Royal/Allen putting up a bunch of points. But I won't be terribly shocked if we lose a squeaker. Just please, for the love of all that is good -- let these teams emerge from this game unscathed by further injuries.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">p.s. I'm excited, too, to see Blake Bortles in action. Thought you guys got the right guy out of this year's QB class.
