I think Micigan may be further than 2-3 years away, but I agree with what you say.

 

While the next couple of recruiting classes are critical for Michigan,   it wouldn't surprise me a high caliber new coaching staff got noticeably more out of the current returning 2015 players on Michigan's roster than the coaching staff that's in place at present.   

 

Nick Saban is almost certainly not coming to Michigan.   But for discussion sake Michigan was able to get a Nick Saban caliber HC for 2015,    at the very least I think that it will get the ball rolling for a major long term turnaround.   You might be proven correct that Michigan is further away than 2 to 3 years from being a top 10 team.   One thing that could aid Michigan relatively quickly though is the Big Ten is far from a top level conference.    It's not like the SEC where there are many teams you have to overtake to get to a top 10 level.
