The rookie thing has some merit, but lets not go overboard with the excuse. I've seen other very young teams have much success. 
 

Please cite a team that fielded as many rookies early in a season as the Jaguars have this season.

 

Also yes, we are asking them to play football, but football at the Pro level is not the same as High School or even the College level.  The game is not only faster, it's also more complex.
