I think David Caldwell is doing a good job in not giving away the store with FA acquisitions and contract renewals/extensions. The financial impact on the team with a busted FA is minimal as he left himself an out with every contract. Good work there, IMO.

His two drafts have been okay, I'd say he gets a solid grade for them. There's some players who could develop into pretty good players and several others who may be helpful. Cyprien looks like a solid player and BB and AR15 look to be good. The jury isn't even close to a verdict on guys like Joeckel, Bowanko and Linder but all are essentially rookies.

He's done what he said he would do. He's built through the draft and augmented with low-priced or well structured FA contracts. They are only a year and a half in so wins-losses don't matter much.
