I'm head to Tuscaloosa this weekend. Only staying friday night and coming back after the game. Should be a ton of fun! Interesting factoid of the week. Apparently the SEC West is undefeated against every team they've played not in the SEC West. Every loss is to another team in the division. anyways games im interested in..
Vandy - bye week.... they need it.
UGA at Arkansas - Surprisingly huge and easy win against Mizzou. Maty Mauk is either really good or really bad. Was a bad game for him. Anyways everyone is now writing UGA's ticket to the SEC championship game. They still have a tough road to hoe. Arkansas is playing well but just hasnt been able to seal the deal. And UGA's style of play fits right into Arkansas' hands. I think this will be a close game. If UGA gets past the Hogs, they still have a game at Kentucky which isnt as easy as usual. the cocktail party which they shoudl win but you never know with rivalries games. And then a game against Auburn. they could easily slip up somewhere along the way.
other games...
A&M at Alabama - only reason I'm putting this first is because I'll be there. A&M was everyone's darling but they played the Mississippi schools back to back and lost both of them. now they get Bama. Tough set of games. I like Bama to win but htey dont score much. And while A&M has been slowed down the last couple weeks, they may not need to score much to win.
Notre Dame at FSU - personally I think both teams are overrated. But especially teh Irish. As they always are when undefeated. They havent played anybody other than Stanford... and that game was in terrible weather which always evens the playing field. Notre Dame handled the weather slightly better and as a result they won. I dont like this FSU team as much as last year but they are clearly better than the Irish. Even if Winston didnt play, I'd say this game was 50/50.
Kansas St at Oklahoma - Not sure what ot think of either of htese teams. K State's only loss was a tough one to Auburn. I did think their win over Texas Tech was impressive but then again Arkansas beat them easily as well. OU looked good early but the TCU loss was surprising and they were completely outplayed by Texas. I always say you never know what can happen in a rivalry game, but its one thing for hte game to be close by some flukey plays or inspired play. its another to be completely outplayed.
OSU at TCU - how in the world did TCU lose that game? If htey had closed the deal it makes you wonder if they would have been the #1 ranked team in the polls. As it is, they blew their chance. OSU's record looks good but they havent beaten anyone good. And some of their wins against middle of the pack to bottom feeding Big12 teams have been unimpressive. Coulda shoulda lost to Kansas last week. and didnt look that great against Texas Tech. TCU should win easily unless they havent gotten over the huge collapse.
Stanford at Arizona St - Pac12 is tough to figure out this year. Lots of teams beating up on each other. If State can win this game, they've got a good chance to win the remaining conference games until they season finale against Arizona which could end up being a defacto semifinal game. Stanford is already out of the national playoff race. And a loss here wouldnt end their chances for the Pac12 even though it'd be the 2nd loss. The game against Oregon as usual will probably decide who represents the north.
Washington at Oregon - Ducks are huge favorites even though the Huskies are 5-1 and had a lot of preseason love. Huskies havent looked great this year although they are close to be undefeated with their only loss being a close one to Stanford. Started the season off slowly with tight wins against Hawaii and Eastern Washington but are starting to look better. Oregon is still in the running for the playoff. I think if they win out they make it.
Baylor at West Virginia - Could be a tough game for Baylor. Coming off a huge emotional come from behind win. And heading to Morgantown where WVU gave OU a run earlier this year. Although even if Baylor starts off slowly, they obviously have enough offense to make up for it if they need to.
Kentucky at LSU - Normally LSU would roll but they've been shaky this year. And Kentucky has been real hot and real cold. If you get the hot Kentucky team not sure LSU has enough offense to win this. LSU usually re-loads so easily but not this year. Quality QB play masks a lot of other things and they just arent getting it.
Virginia at Duke - while early in conference play, this game could go a long way to deciding the Coastal. Hoos have yet to lose in conference and Duke will be one of the challengers in that division. Tiebreakers are important.
VaTech at Pittsburgh - I'm actually not that interested in this but this is one of the few games that makes sense for Pitt as far as a confernece foe. They seem so out of place in the ACC but VaTech isnt that far away and they definitely compete in some recruiting battles. Plus its the thursday night game and I'm sure Ill watch some of this.
