I must have missed Mike Tirico's info but the info probably is correct.    The Texans Defense put the team in a hole they couldn't overcome against the Colts.   Against the Steelers,  more of the blame should be placed on their Offense and Special Teams. 

 

On Defense,  what stands out when J.J. Watt isn't wrecking havoc is they have major issues with pass coverage.    They don't seem to have a LB that matches up well in man to man coverage.   They have one legit starting CB and a SS that seems one dimensional.     If Jadeveon Clowney gets and stays relatively healthy for long periods of time,   that could lead to major improvement in the Texans pass Defense.  Until/  unless that happens,  they are in serious trouble.

 

On Offense,  the Texans don't have enough of a passing attack that can compensate when their ground game is kept in control.   The Steelers put an extra defender in the box after the Texans running game torched them in the 1st QTR.    The Texans didn't take enough advantage of this.  

 

Having said all of this,  after a 2-14 season,  it's not surprising that the Texans have a long way to go to get back and beyond their high points in the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
